We weren’t privy to this before last week but apparently there is this underground community of G-Star wearing VIPS who walk our streets rocking their own customised denims. They still have the trademarked raw selvedge jean feel – the kind that feels initially like a cardboard tracksuit but eventually molds to you so much it’s like peeling off your very soul 6 months later (you’re not allowed to wash them for that long).

However, like Ivy league jeans should, they come from a special rarefied place most of us haven’t seen. Until now. Here are some shots from the G-Star Raw Atelier. It looks like the jeans store of your dreams, complete with artisan tailors to tuck and trim your cuffs to perfection.

We scored an invite and were given the opportunity to choose our zips, tabs, labels, trims, etc. We went so mental mixing up colours and things that the tailor broke protocol and helped us pick a combo that wouldn’t look like it was put together by Stevie Wonder. Thank you G-Star!

Now to resist the washing machine’s siren call.
