About 2 weeks B.F.W (Before Fashion Week) we visited the home of Marshall Ace, or as he’s better known on the web, the Tiny Sartorialist. “If we, citizens, do not support our artists, then we sacrifice our imagination on the altar of crude reality and we end up believing in nothing…”
- Yann Martel
The CITIZENS OF THE WORLD project began in late 2012, along the shores of Bondi Beach in Sydney.
Initially a collaborative venture between lifestyle and portrait photographer Dominic Loneragan and writer Meghan McTavish, CITIZENS quickly evolved into a campaign to craft a series of candles that were both understated but reflected the unique character of Australian creatives. It’s something we’re hugely passionate about and put all our energy into. No candle is sold that we haven’t personally created.
First came DWELLER, the flagship scent and most complicated perfume of the CITIZENS OF THE WORLD range.
A blend of heavy base-notes, DWELLER was the introduction to the CITIZENS ethos of celebrating the importance of home and inspiring a feeling of comfort, wherever in the world you may be.
The range has since expanded to a trio of scents that each has their own olfactory identity but hark back to the spirit of what CITIZENS is all about; the challenge and the adventure of creating.
We put a great deal of energy into the content on hellocitizens.com – which celebrates the people and places we admire and find intriguing.
We are primarily based in Sydney, although our candles can be found throughout Australia and in selected stores overseas.
